About this workshop:
The first of the year tends to bring awareness to our patterns in nutrition and fitness. We encounter numerous factors – both internal and external – that influence our goals and follow-through. This workshop will address those factors through the lens of the latest research, personal wellness, and yoga theory.Kevin Allen, a Boise City Firefighter and Wellness Enthusiast, and Lindsey McConnell-Soong, Clinical Counselor and Registered Yoga Teacher, team up to offer you new perspectives on weight loss. We will discuss the interconnectedness of our unique physical constitutions, our self-concept and personal histories, and the resources on which we rely for health-related information. Yoga theory and practice provides an excellent framework for combining and gaining understanding on these aspects. Lindsey will fuse evidence-based concepts in mental health and yoga philosophy to the nutrition and fitness components that Kevin shares. Through discussion, self-reflective journaling, and integrated yoga/meditation we hope to reconsider and connect to the innate wisdom of the body and how this can serve us in our journey towards comprehensive wellness.
